Officers selected for SWAT undergo rigorous physical, firearms, and tactical training. If you’re calm under pressure, highly disciplined, and thrive in a team-first environment, SWAT may be the right path.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

FWPD’s Crisis Intervention Team works directly with individuals in mental health crises, often in partnership with local hospitals and service providers. Officers in CIT receive specialized de-escalation training and play a vital role in reducing harm, connecting residents to resources, and building trust with vulnerable populations.

Digital Forensics Unit

This unit analyzes and recovers digital evidence from mobile devices, computers, and other electronics, supporting major investigations. Officers leverage advanced tools and receive specialized certifications to assist in crimes,such as cyberstalking, fraud, and homicide. It’s a path well-suited for officers with technical aptitude and investigative curiosity.

Air Support

FWPD’s Air Support Unit enhances public safety through aerial surveillance, rapid response, and tactical support during critical incidents. Staffed by sworn officers trained as pilots and tactical flight officers, the unit provides overhead assistance for pursuits, search and rescue, and crowd monitoring.

Mounted Patrol

FWPD’s Mounted Patrol Unit provides crowd control, high-visibility policing, and community engagement at major events throughout the city. Officers selected for Mounted Patrol undergo specialized training in horsemanship and crowd management, and they serve as ambassadors to the community during festivals, protests, and patrols in urban areas.

Vice Unit

The Vice Unit investigates illegal activities such as prostitution, illegal gambling, and liquor law violations. Officers in this unit often work undercover and must exhibit strong investigative instincts, discretion, and sound judgment.

Special Events & Emergency Response (SEER)

SEER coordinates public safety at major city events, ranging from large festivals and concerts to emergency response coordination during severe weather or public demonstrations. Officers in this unit develop logistical plans, serve as liaisons with city departments, and manage deployments for crowd safety and emergency preparedness.

Fugitive Unit

This unit is tasked with locating and apprehending individuals wanted on outstanding warrants. It’s a fast-paced, dynamic role that requires solid teamwork, quick thinking, and strong attention to detail. Officers work closely with local and federal agencies and frequently track violent offenders.

Human Trafficking Unit

FWPD’s Human Trafficking Unit plays a crucial role in identifying, investigating, and dismantling trafficking operations in the Fort Worth area. This unit works closely with victim advocates, state and federal agencies, and non-profits to rescue victims and hold traffickers accountable. It’s a path for officers who are mission-driven and passionate about justice.
