Competitive Pay and Incentives from Day One
Fort Worth Police recruits begin earning a salary from the first day of academy training. Trainees receive $5,460 per month while enrolled in the police academy. Upon graduation and full commissioning, officer pay increases to $6,339 per month, which equates to an annual salary of $78,000.
But that’s just the beginning. FWPD officers are also eligible for a range of additional pay opportunities and incentives designed to reward education, experience, and specialized skills:
- Longevity Pay: Earn an extra $4 per month for each year of service, up to 25 years
- Education Incentive Pay: After one year of service, officers with a qualifying associate degree receive $60 per month, while those with a relevant bachelor’s degree receive $180 per month
- State Certification Pay: Officers with intermediate certification receive $30 per month, while those with advanced certification earn $60 per month through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Court Appearance Pay: Officers required to appear in court during off-duty hours are compensated with overtime pay
- Bilingual Proficiency Pay: Officers demonstrating fluency in approved languages may receive up to $125 per month upon passing a language proficiency exam.
- Uniform Allowance: Officers receive a $325 annual stipend to cover uniform-related expenses.
